Michael (2026)

Movie: Michael (2026) Director: Antoine Fuqua IMDb Rating: 7.7/10 Letterboxd Rating: 3.6/5 Overview: Discover the story of Michael Jackson, one of the most influential artists the world has ever known, and his life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world, highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career. The Good: Michael Jackson, at his peak, was perhaps the most famous person in the world so I'm glad a long overdue biopic has been made. The acting is incredible. They really could not have picked a better guy to play Michael than Jaafar Jackson. The way he speaks, the way he performs and dances all remind me of Michael. The singing performance and the ending concert is stellar, to the point where I was almost crying because of h...

The Dark Knight (2008)

Movie: The Dark Knight Director: Christopher Nolan IMDb Rating: 9.1/10 Letterboxd Rating: 4.5/5 Overview: Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lt. Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Batman sets out to dismantle the remaining organizations that plague the streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as the Joker. The Good: Obviously, the best thing about this film is the acting. Aside from Heath Ledger, who delivers one of the best performances of the 21st century, Aaron Eckhart really stood out to me on rewatch. Harvey Dent's character development from the hero to the villain is so painful but good at the same time. I think Heath Ledger's Joker and Aaron Eckhart's Two-Face are easily in talks for top 10 villains of all time. Aside from acting, the cinematography and lighting is incredible. It just...

Crime 101 (2026)

Movie: Crime 101 Director: Bart Layton IMDb Rating: 6.8/10 Letterboxd Rating: 3.1/5 Overview: An elusive thief, eyeing his final score, encounters a disillusioned insurance broker at her own crossroads. As their paths intertwine, a relentless detective trails them hoping to thwart the multi-million dollar heist they are planning. Review: Intro: It was an interesting experience watching Crime 101 in theaters, because it was the first film that I watched in theaters in 2026 and also the first film released in 2026 that I watched. In this review I will go over the strengths and weaknesses of the film and also my rating for it. Strengths: Acting: Pretty much every member of the cast gave a good performance though Mark Ruffalo's role and acting interested me the most because it is the second time I have seen him play a detective, the first being in Zodiac.  He gave a very impressive performance the first time so I had fairly high expectations and he did not disappoint. Good tension buil...

Top 5 Films of 2025

Top 5 Films of 2025 Note: If your favorite film didn't make the list it's probably because I haven't seen it! And for that reason this list may change in the future if I watch more films from this year. This list is my personal opinion. #5: Superman: There isn't really much more to say about this than...WOW! David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult both give electric and emotional performances and James Gunn delivers a movie with a simple message: be kind. The direction is out of this world, the effects and action sequences are awesome, and the humor is on point. It's a shame it couldn't be higher on the list but it's a must watch for sure. #4: Weapons: Breaking the mold of demons and serial killers, Weapons offers a unique take on horror and it absolutely works. In the first hour, nothing scary was really happening but it still gave me the frights because I knew it was building up to an insane climax and it did not disappoint. Upon reading the plot I was intrigu...
