Overview:

Discover the story of Michael Jackson, one of the most influential artists the world has ever known, and his life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world, highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career.

The Good:

Michael Jackson, at his peak, was perhaps the most famous person in the world so I'm glad a long overdue biopic has been made.

The acting is incredible. They really could not have picked a better guy to play Michael than Jaafar Jackson. The way he speaks, the way he performs and dances all remind me of Michael.

The singing performance and the ending concert is stellar, to the point where I was almost crying because of how good it was. I don't think me having a great time from the concert had much to do with the actual movie but rather how good MJ's music is.

Obviously, they did put a lot of effort into the choreography and it shows because I just wanted to jump out of my seat and start dancing with him.

This movie gets bonus points for having a monkey in it.

The Bad:

I was really hoping to see them address the allegations against MJ. I don't think any of them are true but I still would have liked to see how they would handled it.

Even outside of the allegations they don't really explore Michael's personality and personal struggles outside of parental abuse and him wanting to go solo. Basically if you skimmed his Wikipedia page, you are not going to get more information than that from this movie.

Final Thoughts:

It does have imperfections but if you go see this on the big screen you are going to have a great time. It could've been better, but it's still pretty dang good.

Final Rating: 4/5
