 Top 5 Films of 2025

Note: If your favorite film didn't make the list it's probably because I haven't seen it! And for that reason this list may change in the future if I watch more films from this year. This list is my personal opinion.

#5: Superman:

There isn't really much more to say about this than...WOW! David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult both give electric and emotional performance and James Gunn delivers a movie with a simple message: be kind. The direction is out of this world, the effects and action sequences are awesome, and the humor is on point. It's a shame it couldn't be higher on the list but it's a must watch for sure.

#4: Weapons:

Breaking the mold of demons and serial killers, Weapons offers a unique take on horror and it absolutely works. In the first hour, nothing scary was really happening but it still gave me the frights because I knew it was building up to an insane climax and it did not disappoint. Upon reading the plot I was intrigued with the mysterious events and knew it was worth checking out. Best horror movie of the year.

#3: The Naked Gun:

I doubt you expected to this movie so high up and yet here we are. I'm not a huge fan of most comedies because it's less about the plot and more about the jokes, which don't make me laugh much anyways, but this one was different. It does have a very generic plot but it makes up for it with the hilarious comedy. I don't think there was one joke in the movie at which I wasn't laughing out loud. The funniest movie I've ever seen, go watch it.

#2: F1:

Once again, it has a pretty generic plot but it is executed so perfectly that I saw it 3 times. Maybe it's the acting of Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, and Javier Bardem, or maybe it's the killer soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, or perhaps the fact that I don't know the first thing about racing but still had an amazing time, or maybe it's a perfect harmony of all those things that makes it an incredible movie watching experience. Nevertheless, it's phenomenal.

#1: One Battle After Another:

You already knew it was gonna be on the list. A perfect movie delivered by the great Paul Thomas Anderson. Great soundtrack, flawless acting and perfect pacing are just a few things that make this the movie of the year. This movie, man. THIS MOVIE!
